Siderise CW Perimeter Barrier Systems
Enhanced perimeter fire containment solutions for protecting curtain walls
A system approach
Ensuring effective compartmentation between the floor slab and the façade — an area referred to as the spandrel — is critical to the fire safety of glazed façades.
Our third-party tested and certified slab edge CW Perimeter Barrier Systems not only inhibit fire spread but help preserve the performance of the spandrel assembly therefore the stability of the curtain wall — all whilst withstanding façade and floor slab movement over the lifetime of the building.
Our systems incorporate a combination of our products and ancillaries that are designed to work holistically. These include CW-FS Firestop, CW-FB Fireboard and CW-SI Spandrel Insulation tested in conjunction with commercially available non-fire rated curtain wall constructions to EN 1364-4, ASTM E2307 and ASTM E2874 curtain wall fire test standards.
The EN 1364-4 test approach is advocated in ASFP Advisory Note 7; EN 13830; EN 13501-2; and EAD 350141-00-1106; with CWCT also announcing a proposed update to Technical Note 98 recommending that curtain wall perimeter edge firestops should be tested in accordance with EN 1364-4, not BS 476-20 or EN 1366-4
EN-1364-4 configuration 5 allows in-test façade and floor slab deflection incurred as a result of being subjected to extreme heat over 1000°C during the test, to be considered when evaluating CW-FS Firestop functioning as a perimeter seal
Pre-test mechanically induced movement of CW-FS Firestop, functioning as a perimeter edge seal, before system fire testing to EN 1364-4 enables its durability to be validated by demonstrating its ability to accommodate in-service movement - and still perform in the event of fire
Unlike product only test approaches via EN 1366-4 and the legacy BS 476-20, EN 1364-4 tested systems offer a best practice path to compliance that meets regulatory requirements with spandrel protection and advanced perimeter edge firestop movement testing
Our systems offer a straightforward yet advanced perimeter fire containment solution— with all products and required ancillaries tested together in multiple test scenarios and supplied in a single package
