CPD
Online and in-person educational seminars
RIBA accredited CPD
Siderise is part of the RIBA CPD Providers Network.
We want to help you with your professional development. Our technical team of passive fire protection experts can deliver RIBA accredited CPDs. Seminars can be delivered online or in person to suit your needs and availability.
CPD training
Our CPD seminars are aimed at architects, specifiers, main contractors, fire engineers and other disciplines involved in the development and delivery of a building's fire safety strategy. They are designed to enhance your knowledge and develop your understanding of passive fire protection and acoustics whilst earning CPD credits.
The seminars focus on sharing the latest best practice approaches to ensuring effective passive fire safety and noise control measures within the building envelope, drawing on learnings from our extensive global project experiences. Topics span technical considerations and products in-application to regulatory affairs and testing regimes.
Fire safety
Passive fire protection CPD modules
This CPD seminar looks at the principles of curtain wall façade systems and the passive fire protection products they require for mitigating fire spread. It covers building regulations and both mandatory and specialist guidance for achieving and exceeding regulatory requirements in addition to the salient differences between current compliance paths. It also discusses testing and certification, product and system selection, and important detailing and installation considerations.
Learning objectives
- Principles of a Curtain Wall Façade
- Regulatory requirements & guidance documents
- Functional Performance Requirements of Fire Stops
- Component testing & certification for compliance
- Important detailing and installation overview
CPD length: 45mins - 1hr
This CPD looks at some of the common ventilated façade system types, the key functions of a rainscreen façade and the regulatory requirements for fire protection in Great Britain, including the latest changes regarding fire performance classifications. It also covers the functional performance of cavity barriers, application suitability, testing and certification, and compliance paths. It puts forward some typical problematic areas and how to overcome them early in the design stage and gives an installation overview.
Learning objectives
- The most common different façade types
- Principles of a Ventilated Façade
- The Regulatory requirements & Guidance including recent changes
- Functional Performance Requirements of Cavity Barriers
- Important detailing in the design of cavity barriers for ventilated façades
- Routes to compliance
- Product installation
CPD length: 45mins - 1hr
This CPD looks at typical masonry external wall build-ups and the types of fire barriers suitable for this application in terms of functionality. It also examines the regulatory requirements for fire protection in masonry wall constructions in Great Britain, covering compliance paths, testing and certification and fire performance classifications along with important detailing for successful design, and installation guidance for overcoming common site issues that risk undermining specified performance.
Learning objectives
- Masonry external wall variants
- Regulatory requirements
- Compliance guidance
- Cavity barrier design principles and functional performance
- Testing and certification
- Product selection
- Detailing considerations and installation requirements
CPD length: 45mins - 1hr
Noise control
Building acoustic CPD modules
This course is ideal for contractors and manufacturers of curtain wall façade systems who are finding themselves tasked with satisfying acoustic criteria in their design and would like a basic understanding of what to be aware of so that you can improve your design.
This CPD looks at some of the key terminology you will come across for a curtain wall façade and some of the minimum requirements based on the UK regulatory requirements. It explores the most significant paths sound typically finds in curtain wall façades, library data and what we can learn from it to improve your design acoustically. Investigating performance limiting factors and how while some principles must be obeyed to achieve the required performance, others may be overcome by products. It also looks into the importance of good workmanship and how drastically it can effect your design.
Learning objectives
- Introduction and Terminology
- Sound transmission paths
- Library data and what it teaches us
- Performance limiting factors and product solutions
- Case studies and workmanship
CPD length: 45mins - 1hr
This course is ideal for contractors and manufacturers of curtain wall façade systems who want an introduction in what they can look out for with regards to acoustics in their design.
This CPD looks at some of the key terminology you will come across for a curtain wall façade and some of the minimum requirements based on the UK regulatory requirements. It shows how sound travels in many paths in curtain wall façades, touches on library data to show a couple of key principles we can learn from to improve your design acoustically. It looks at potential performance limiting factors and how to improve the design with simple changes and products. It also looks into the importance of good workmanship and how drastically it can effect your design.
Learning objectives
- Terminology
- Sound transmission paths
- Library data and testing
- Performance limiting factors and product solutions
- Workmanship and its impact
CPD length: 20mins - 30mins
