Siderise supports local fundraising drive with Men’s Sheds Association
On 11th November 2024, a team of volunteers from our Maesteg headquarters helped the local Men’s Sheds Association to offload a large delivery of Christmas trees*, ready to be sold to raise vital funds for the local group.
Men’s Sheds is a global movement which sets out to create spaces for men to socialise, learn, and create. Whilst not always connected to an actual shed, these community groups provide their members—or ‘Shedders’— with access to tools, workbenches, skills and opportunities to make and mend alongside others. The Maesteg Group’s Christmas Tree sale will help to raise vital funds to help them continue their important work in the local community.
“We are delighted to be supported by Siderise”, explained Phil, one of the organisers and members of the Maesteg Shed. “As a significant local business, it is great that they understand what our Shed is trying to do and that we can work together to better our community—also moving these trees is hard work!”
Kara Bennet Interim ESG Manager at Siderise, added:
“We’ve had a great afternoon working with the Men’s Sheds Association to get the trees offloaded ready for their Christmas homes. The Association is such an important part of our local community, and their purpose and activities also closely align with our own ESG goals.
Not only are these groups helping all kinds of people to stay active and connected, fostering better physical and mental health, but they are also a real hub of learning and development. People are sharing their skills and tools with others to deliver local projects with real and wide-reaching social value. They are even using their skills to help reduce local waste, by supporting businesses and individuals to repair or repurpose what they have, rather than buy new.”
We are looking forward to hearing the results of the Shedder’s efforts and working together on other local schemes in the future.
